A mini project exhibition was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering on 13/12/2024 to showcase innovative civil engineering project ideas created by the department’s students at the GMIT campus. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Chandan B. R., Principal, GMIT; Dr. Akshaya B. J., Head of the Department of Civil Engineering; and the faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department.
2. Engineer’s Day Celebration- Sketch Competition-Co-ordinated by-Mrs. Niveditha K M

On the occasion of remembering Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya – the great engineer, statesman, and visionary – the Civil Engineering Department organized a Sketch Competition to celebrate his remarkable contributions to engineering and nation-building. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students showcasing their creativity and paying tribute to the legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya through art.
3. Industrial visit to RMC- Ready Mix Concrete-Co-ordinated by Mr. Abhisheka L

The industrial visit to the Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plant enabled students to gain practical knowledge of concrete production, including material selection, batching, mixing, and quality control processes. They observed modern machinery and automation used in RMC plants and understood the importance of maintaining mix proportions and testing procedures such as the slump test and compressive strength test. The visit bridged the gap between theoretical concepts and real-time applications, enhanced students’ understanding of environmental and safety practices, and provided insights into the logistics of concrete transportation. Overall, the experience enriched their technical knowledge, teamwork, and awareness of career opportunities in the field of concrete technology and construction.

The SCR activity at Sri Chamundeshwari Temple with a Heritage Walk promoted environmental awareness and community engagement. The program enhanced students’ technical knowledge and social responsibility.

Civil Engineering students visited Kannambaadi Uthsava in Mandya,students gained valuable exposure to civil engineering applications in real-world contexts. They observed traditional and modern construction practices used in temporary and permanent structures for public events, including layout planning, crowd management, and infrastructure setup such as pathways, drainage, and lighting systems. The visit enhanced their understanding of sustainable event infrastructure, materials management, and the importance of integrating civil engineering principles with cultural and community-based projects. This experiential learning improved their awareness of planning, safety, and environmental considerations in large-scale public gathering.

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a technical talk on “Recent Trends in HVAC Systems for Smart Buildings” on 10th November 2025. The session was delivered by Dr. Narayanswamy, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, who shared his valuable insights on the evolving technologies and design innovations in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for sustainable and smart infrastructures. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vidya B. R., Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, and attended by faculty members and students from civil engineering discipline

The technical talk on “Advanced Electrical System Design, Extra-Low Voltage Integration, and Building Acoustics for Modern Smart Infrastructure,” held on 13th November 2025, provided students with valuable interdisciplinary knowledge on modern building services and smart infrastructure requirements. The session, delivered by Prof. Ravikumar K. N., Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, enhanced students’ understanding of electrical system integration, ELV concepts, and acoustic considerations in civil engineering projects. The event, coordinated by Dr. Vidya B. R., saw active participation from faculty members and civil engineering students, contributing to improved technical awareness and practical insights.
8. Quiz-By CATALYST-2025-Co-ordinated by Mr. Mahadeva C K

The Department of Civil Engineering, VVCE Mysuru, in association with ACCE(I), Mysore Centre, and S K Super TMT Steels, organized CATALYST-2025, a Quiz Programme for Civil Engineering students on 13/11/2025 at GMIT, Mandya. The event provided an excellent platform for students to enhance their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and competitive skills in core Civil Engineering subjects. Through active participation and exposure to industry-oriented questions, students gained improved confidence and better understanding of practical concepts. A total of 10 students qualified for the next round, demonstrating commendable performance and strong subject fundamentals. The programme successfully promoted healthy competition, academic excellence, and industry interaction among budding civil engineers.
9. NSS Programme -District-Level Pre-Event Activity-Co-ordinated by -Mr. Mahadeva C K

The District-Level NSS Pre-Event Activity coordinated by Mr. Mahadeva C. K enabled students to develop a strong sense of social responsibility and community engagement. Through active participation, students enhanced their organizational skills, teamwork, leadership qualities, and awareness of social issues. The programme also helped inculcate values of discipline, cooperation, empathy, and service-oriented thinking, contributing to their overall personality development and preparedness for future NSS initiatives.
