Goal

To share and enhance the knowledge among faculties on recent trends and technological developments in their respective domains.

The Context

It is important that faculty must develop presentation skills, subject knowledge, and research orientation in order to provide the worth learning propositions to the students. From a traditional teaching perspective technology plays a huge part in developing such skills and information transfer on new trends and technology. Forums provide a platform for information transfer and helps professional development of teachers through continuous thinking and sharing of knowledge among faculties of respective domains from sister concerned institutions. It pays attention in enhancing subject knowledge, research orientation and communication skills of teachers and fills the gap between curriculum and technological development.

The Practice

Faculty Forum is one of the unique traditions of our institution. The Forum activity is scheduled in such a way that each faculty selects minimum three topics in an academic year. In each session faculties of respective stream engage in presentations (minimum of 45 mins) followed by discussion about the identified topics essentially on recent trends and technology. Through the Forum, the faculties participate in the discussion, post their ideas and react to content shared by the topic discussed by the faculty member..

Evidence of Success

  1. Forum has facilitated faculty members in sharing knowledge, understanding, clarifying and developing new skill and ideas on recent trends and technology.
  2. Results have shown that faculty members have managed to enhance their subject knowledge as they not only present their topic but also attend the presentations of other faculty members and take part in discussions.
  3. Forum has provided a space to update and implement innovations in teaching learning process that favours students as faculty members get ideas on different areas discussed in the forum.
  4. Topics discussed on social issues in the forum helps in understanding the problem and provides different ideas on solving it.

Goal

To enrich knowledge and presentation skills of students on topic of their interest and exhibiting them on the board.

The Context

Learning is a complex process that includes self-motivation, self-control and self-discipline. The efficiency of learning depends on the motivation of students and overall atmosphere in the classroom. At the same time, promotion of interest to communicate out of the classroom is of the same importance. In this context prathibhakausthuba is one of the methods that facilitate students in finding an interest in a specific professional field and exhibit them on board so that it provides information to others and also understanding the concepts of engineering sciences becomes easier and more enjoyable.

The Practice

The students of respective semesters are taken in charge of this prathibakausthuba. On their respective schedule group students from each semester select the topic and collect the details and drawings of the relevant topic are presented on the board. This will be carried throughout the semester from students of all the department.

Evidence of Success

  1. Provides students an idea of exploring information and selecting the relevant data on their respective topic which is excluding of their academic syllabus.
  2. Enriches writing skills, exhibiting skills, Innovative thinking in students.
  3. Pictorial representation of theoretical concept helps students to understand the concepts easily.
